We have been asked why it is that an Institute that focuses on strategic risk and crisis management is offering a Level 4 Award at the Team Leader level. The truth is, whatever the strategic nature of a crisis event may be, its manifestations are on the local level, and it is often the skills and capabilities of the front-line immediate responders that decides the effectiveness of the initial response. The ability to maintain communications with other stakeholders, both internal and external, and to work effectively with other teams to create effective and appropriate responses in unstable and rapidly developing situations, is something that is as important to an organisation’s crisis management capabilities as the decision making at the C-Suite level or the operational management at the tactical level.
